When the Beef is Just That Good

Singapore, 3 July 2026

A friend recently took me to a Korean BBQ restaurant (Sodeng), saying “You have to try the beef.”

I was not expecting anything extraordinary.

Then the first plate arrived.

Beautifully marbled, perfectly grilled and unbelievably tender - it was one of those meals where the food speaks for itself.

The funniest part?

There were only two of us, but we each ordered a 2-person beef portion. That’s enough to feed four people in total!

Normally I would look at that and think, “There is no way!”

But somehow… … plate after plate disappeared.

No regrets.

Just really good beef, lots of chit chat and the kind of conversation that makes you lose track of time.

I hae come to realise that some of life’s best moments are not carefully planned. They are the spontaneous dinners where someone says, “Trust me, this place is good.” and they turn out to be absolutely right.

Needless to say, I left with a very full stomach and a mental note to return … … perhaps with a little more self-control next time.

(Though I am not making any promises!!!!)
