The Dream Became Real

For almost a year, Serene, Adrian and I have been talking about walking the Camino de Santiago in April 2027.

It started as one of those conversations that kept coming back. We would discuss routes, watch YouTube videos, compare itineraries and imagine what it would be like to finally walk across northern Spain. But like many dreams, it stayed in the "one day" category.

Last night, that changed.

We officially committed!

Flights are booked from Singapore to Madrid, and from Madrid to Santiago. We have also reserved our accommodation in Madrid so we can spend a couple of days exploring the city before beginning our pilgrimage. On top of that, we've started reaching out to several Camino operators for quotations and recommendations on the best route for our walking pace and experience.

One decision surprised us.

Our original plan was to fly Emirates Business Class — a little reward for embarking on such a meaningful journey. Unfortunately, with the ongoing uncertainty around the Middle East and the possibility of transiting through Dubai, we decided that peace of mind was more important than luxury.

Instead, we chose Singapore Airlines Premium Economy with a shorter connection in Barcelona.

Would Business Class have been nice? Of course.

Am I disappointed? A little.

But this journey has never been about luxury. It's about the experience, the adventure, the people we'll meet, and discovering what we're capable of — one step at a time.

Looking at the confirmations in my inbox made everything feel different.

The Camino is no longer something I'm planning.

It's something I'm going to do.

April 2027, here we come.
