Just Another Evening Walk… Until It Wasn’t

We left home for another evening walk. Nothing ambitious. No particular target to beat. Just shoes on, get outside and walk.

The sun was still hanging around when we started, but slowly the harsh afternoon light softened into that lovely golden evening glow. This is probably one of my favourite times to walk — when the day starts winding down and everything feels just a little quieter.

And this is something I've started to enjoy about walking more often: I notice things. Places I've probably passed before without giving them a second thought suddenly become little discoveries. This time, it was the Sun Plaza Park Woodball Course — apparently Singapore's first woodball course, established in 1999.

Who knew? Certainly not me. 😂

That's the funny thing about walking. When we're in a car or on a bus, we're usually focused on getting from Point A to Point B. But on foot, there is time to look around, stop, take a photo, wonder what something is… and then continue. These walks are also becoming part of my preparation for the Camino next year, but I'm beginning to realise that I don't want every walk to become training.

I still want to wander. I still want to stop for photos. I still want to look at the sunset. And if something catches my attention, I want to go and have a kaypoh look. 😂 Because that's probably how I'll walk the Camino too. Not racing towards the next destination, but taking my time getting there.

Small steps. Little discoveries. And nowhere I need to rush to.

That's quite a nice way to spend an evening.

Step by Step. At My Own Pace.❤️
