No Big Route
Just a Morning Walk.
Not every walk needs a destination. Not every walk needs to be 8km, 10km or part of some carefully planned training route. Sometimes, I just need to put on my shoes, step outside and walk. And this morning was one of those mornings.
I stayed close to home, wandering through familiar roads and paths around the neighbourhood. A turn here, another turn there, a little loop around somewhere because… why not? 😂
Looking at the Relive route afterwards actually made me laugh. It wasn't exactly the most elegant route I've ever walked. But then again, it didn't need to be.
Starting the Day With My Feet Moving
There is something I really enjoy about walking in the morning. The day hasn't properly started yet. No work emails demanding attention. No meetings. No need to rush anywhere. Just a little bit of time outside before the rest of life begins.
And while these shorter walks may not look particularly impressive compared with the longer distances I'm slowly working towards, I'm beginning to realise that they matter just as much. Because preparing for the Camino isn't only about the occasional 10km or 15km training walk. It's also about making walking normal.
Something I do without having to think too much about it.
Shoes on.
Out the door.
Walk.
The Ordinary Kilometres Count Too
There will be longer training walks. There will be hills. There will be weekends when I deliberately push the distance a little further. But there will also be mornings like this. Familiar neighbourhood. No grand destination. A slightly questionable route on Relive. 😂 And a body that got up and moved instead of staying in bed for another hour. Those kilometres count too.
Perhaps that's what Step by Step is really becoming for me — not a record of how far I can walk, but a record of how walking is slowly becoming part of my everyday life.
Nothing dramatic happened this morning.
And actually, I rather like that - Just me, my walking shoes and another little start to the day.
❤️ Small steps. Big changes. At my own pace. ❤️
