Healing One Step at a Time

I had hoped that resting yesterday afternoon would be enough. Unfortunately, by this morning I was feeling worse and the doctor put me on a two-day medical leave.

If you know me, you will know that sitting at home all day is not exactly my forte.

By coincidence, Adrian had a meeting at Downtown East in the evening. Since I wasn't running a fever and needed a little fresh air, we decided on a very gentle walk along Pasir Ris Beach. Not for exercise. Not to clock kilometres. Just to move a little and let nature do what it does best.

There was something calming about the sound of the waves, the evening breeze and watching people simply enjoying the outdoors. It reminded me that recovery isn't always measured by how much we accomplish. Sometimes, it is measured by how willing we are to slow down.

Ironically, my weight loss journey has taught me this lesson too.

There was a time when I believed every walk had to be faster, every workout had to be harder and every day had to be productive. Nowadays, I am learning that consistency also means respecting the days when my body says, "Not today."

This was not a training walk for the Camino.
This was not a fitness challenge.

It was simply a reminder that health isn't just about moving forward—it's also about knowing when to pause.
