Sometimes, Just Look Up

Another walk. But this one wasn't really about the numbers. While walking, something caught my attention up in the trees. A bird. So of course I stopped. And watched. And took photos. πŸ˜‚

It's funny how much more I seem to notice these days simply because I'm walking more. When I'm travelling somewhere by car or bus, everything outside just passes by. Even when I'm walking with somewhere specific to be, I'm usually thinking about getting there.

But when I walk simply because I want to walk, it's different. There's time to look around.

A bird sitting quietly amongst the branches. The shape of a tree. Something happening across the path. A little corner I've passed many times but never really noticed. None of these things are particularly extraordinary. And maybe that's the point.

We spend so much of our lives looking for the big things β€” holidays, celebrations, achievements, milestones β€” that it's quite easy to miss all the tiny things happening around us every ordinary day.

I'm finding that my walks are becoming less about getting somewhere and more about simply being outside and seeing what I happen to find along the way. Some walks give me beautiful sunsets. Some give me interesting discoveries.

This one gave me a reason to stop and look up. Not bad for 3.1 km. ❀️

Step by step. At my own pace. ❀️
